EGG PACKAGING MONTHLY STATISTICAL REPORT FOR JANUARY 2012

PLEASE NOTE:

The production standards for laying hens in use since 2005 have been revised. The new standards have been gradually introduced over a 54 week laying cycle, commencing in September 2010. Change over to the new standards was completed in September 2011 and the net effect of the application of these new performance standards is an increase of seven percent in the volume of eggs produced.

All the previous egg production forecasts from September 2010 to November 2012 have been affected by the introduction of the revised standards.

Based on the depopulation ages reported to SAPA, quarterly average ages of depopulation were incorporated into the model to increase the age of depopulation of the laying flock from 69 weeks to 72 weeks.

Below please find the graphs depicting the sales of major packaging companies vs the egg industry production figures.  Please note that Egg Industry Production figures are a moving average and should be read as the Industry Potential Trend.
